IZZY STRADLIN & THE JU JU HOUNDS Bassist Confirms BUCKCHERRY Collaboration
June 8, 2005According to a posting on the Izzy Stradlin (ex-GUNS N' ROSES) fan site www.izzy.34sp.com, IZZY STRADLIN & THE JU JU HOUNDS bassist Jimmy Ashurst has confirmed that he has taken part in the recording sessions for the new album from reunited Los Angeles hard rockers BUCKCHERRY. "It is to be the band's third release, but the first with a new lineup which features Jimmy on bass with the original founding members Keith Nelson and Josh Todd," the posting reads. "It has not been yet confirmed whether Jimmy will tour with the band or not, but this news is exciting because of the fact that Jimmy had all but retired from the music business and this will be the first major album on which he has appeared since playing mandolin on the BLACK CROWES' 'Amorica' in '95. We also know that he has been playing with country singer-songwriter Mike Stinson in L.A and Hollywood clubs, and we believe there is a new album from that artist available at his website. Also playing with Mike is legendary Los Angeles guitarist Tony Gilkyson, formerly of X...and drummer David Kemper from Bob Dylan's band and Jerry Garcia band...amazing musicians!"
As previously reported, BUCKCHERRY's third album is tentatively due in Japan in late July/early August. The follow-up to 2001's "Time Bomb" was produced by guitarist Keith Nelson. A U.S. record deal for the new album has yet to be secured.
